There are a lot of new systems
appearing at the moment which always worries me because I just wonder, if a lot
of people just see our industry as a place to make a quick buck.
One
that I have been getting a lot of emails about is
Laying
Confidential, in fact many of them have been concerned about the results
that you have to give you email address to get. It appears, allegedly, that
they are showing betfair prices that are under SP.
I know of one site
owner who keeps good records who has emailed them regarding this and still
waiting for a reply. He has had many of the same selections that they have
published but he feels there are a few discrepancies in the prices they are
showing.
Results apart I would like to hear from anyone who has
purchased the system to let us know what they think.
With the amount of
advertising they are doing I am sure there are a few of you out there who have
purchased it, so please don't be shy let other readers know what you
think.

Carrying
on our discussion about our bank.
I had an email from a reader called
Ian yesterday and he sent me his own bank and staking ideas to share with
you.
"1. If I am in the early days of a new laying system I try to
increase my stakes at half the rate of increase in the bank, in order to
progressively reduce the risk. For example, if I have a £100 starting
bank and lay 5%, when the bank becomes £105 my next lay would be 5% of
£102.50, i.e. £5.13; if that wins my new bank is £110.13 and
my next stake is therefore 5% of £105.07 and so on. I have ignored
commission for simplicity in these figures but I do take it into account for
real. Naturally it’s all done by spreadsheet!
2. I don’t use
a loss recovery method for backing systems, but I do for laying systems. If I
have a losing lay bet I add a proportion of the loss to the next few bets, but
I am embarrassed to say that it doesn’t follow a prescribed formula, I
just use whatever proportion gives me increased stakes which are not too high.
This method is still in the early stages so I aim to refine it so that it
becomes more of a formula. My thoughts at the moment are to link the proportion
to the system’s strike rate in some way."

Slightly different again to what we have seen
from others and in a way a very good compromise which means Ian can grow his
bank but at the same time use some of the winnings to increase his buffer.
