Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
>I had quite a few email's yesterday about backing and
laying two horses in a race and what was interesting is that most of you found,
that it was just a break even situation.
Some had tried over a short
period of time and others over a lot longer period but still it was always
break even.
I don't know the details of each test but to think we are
going to do any better would be arrogant because some of the people who wrote
are professional gamblers themselves, so they certainly know what they are
talking about.
Still...I can not resist a challenge even if it is just
to see what the results are like. So I still plan to show these very soon,
One thing that has bothered me is staking and how much to put on each
selection, bearing in mind that the back side is probably going to be odds on
most of the time.
My own thoughts are that you stake slightly more on
the lay selections than the win selection. It is more probable the lay will
come in more often than the back, allowing for profit nearly all the time if we
make the lay a slightly higher stake.
I would like to hear your
suggestions on that one.
On another subject Elaine (a reader) thinks
that I have given up to early laying the favourites on USA races and is insist
long term there is profit to be made on these races. Up to now we have been
unlucky and part of the problem maybe that we are stopping to early, so I will
probably revisit these selections soon.

8. Greyhound Selections- Lay
System started 07/11/2006.
After playing around with selections I
have decided that for the time being this is going to be a lay only test. I
think I have worked out a system that will give us quite good prices but I
suspect there will have to be a maximum lay price set. I am just not sure what
that will be but I am testing between 2.00 and 7.00. I will make every effort
to record betfair lay prices as well. The ones marked with an asterisks
(*) are from the original and tighter system, I am not using these
now.
You can see all the results since the 14th (when I introduced
the latest selection method)
here. I am now using what I call the "rule of 3", this means
we go for 3 wins and use a 3 race scratch back to get back any losses.
