21st September 2006.
Allaboveboard (Miracle System) came 1st, Coalpark (lay of the day)
I get this feeling you know that the statistics that show the % of
favourites winnings, seem to happen in batches.
What are you on about Malcolm?
It always seems to me you have odd periods where favourites seem to
keep winning no matter what and then it doesn't matter what you
do, they just lose all the time!
So when we here that 40% of odds on favourites win their races I would
love to see a graph over a period of a year, to see if there are
weeks or months where they tend to win or lose more often.
I suspect (maybe because I am about to have a holiday) that weather
has something to do with it and maybe even the cycle of the moon and
Ok the weather is probably more likely (no disrespects to people who
use astrology) especially when conditions change overnight.
I would be interested to hear your views, whatever they are.
Racing Post - lose and win selections
(racingpost - racing- tipsters-naps- Today's best Bet's)
17:30, Redcar, Elkhorn 1st 4/5 AV 2.68,
(av Place Price 1.37)
We won on Elkhorn yesterday and although his SP was under under evens
his Betfair price was above all day.
My Win Selection: (8 winners 11 loser so far)
16:40, Fontwell, Classi Maureen 1.87
This is one of those cases where the trainer is trying to get another
win in before the horse gets hit with the full handicap penalty from
their last win. Considering Classi Maureen won by 14 lengths the 7lb
(ex7) she is carrying shouldn't hamper her although she is probably up
against stiffer competition in this race. With such a small field she
may be worth sticking with even though the price is not very
attractive. One small factor here the place price is 1.25 not a great
difference form the back price. I wonder if we going to back that we
may as well go for the place?
"The Deadly sins of Gambling"
