Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
The French Grand Prix (Magny-Cours ) this
weekend and another chance to see Hamilton and Alonso fight it out. It will be
interesting to see if the Ferraries are back.
We have talked a lot about
dutching over the last couple of weeks and many of you have been kind enough to
send your suggestions for the dutching calculator that we are going to create
and already planning.
Up to now we have talked mainly about dutching and
backing because that is what most people tend to do, but I had a lot of
questions about lay dutching.
The obvious appeal here is that you could
easily catch two or more runners that will lose the race, but when dealing with
the front runners the risk will go up.
I have seen a number of
strategies for laying more than one runner in a race but most of these were not
real dutching.
We need to find races where the prices across a number of
runners is very close and then to pick 2 or maybe 3 for our "dutch lay"
.
Let's take the 15.10 at M.R.
South Wind Rising 4.4 (100 divided
by 3.4 equals 29.41)
Investment Wings 5.00 (100 divided by 4.00 equals
25.00)
25. + 29.41 = 54.41
all the top 4 horses are under 10 so I
think that is a good sign.
We are going to lay these two for a liability
of £20
South Wind Rising - 29.41 / 54.41 x 20 = 10.81 / 3.4 = stake
3.17
Investment Wings 25.00 / 54.41 x 20 = 9.18 / 4.0 = stake 2.30
If
both horse lose then we make £5.47
As you can see this is nowhere
near an equal bet if either wins so there is more work to do on the lay side
calculations and next week we will look into them in more detail.

2. Guest Selection - 19-04-2007
I have
been receiving some win tips from a good friend of mine called Shaun.
There are two selections Best and Next best. You can look at best only or
follow both. Shaun suggest that you aim to make 5% of your bank a day and he
chases any losses onto the next selection.
I am going to start with a
£500 bank.
What you do then is take 5% of your bank, in this case
£25.00 and then divide it by the available odds and that's your
stake.
So if the odds were 2/1 then I would divide £25 by 2 making a
£12.50 stake.
If I then lost I would take the £25 already lost
and add it to my next stake that is again 5% of my bank and then divide this
new figure by the available odds.
