Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
Last week we discussed the odds that we wanted to use for our new lay
systems and I explained why we should settle between 1 / 2 and 2/1.
This week I would like to look at the selection process and some of
the things I do when I begin to create system.
You may of heard or even used Adrian Massey’s site.
Some people don’t realise that his whole database is available online
to use and goes back to 1997.
This link takes you to a page that allows you to choose the
criteria you wish to use against all the data stored on line, but be
careful because if you visit his site normally there are two similar
links but one uses his own “*” (star) rating to extract the data.
(By the way I am using RaceXpert myself now as I actually think it is
more accurate and I love the way I can just run each system I create
against the daily racing, you can read my review here.)
Looking down the page you will see quite a bit of information you can
change to try to extract results in your favour. At the moment I want
you to change the “Satrting Price” so that the only boxes ticked are
1-2 to 10-11, evens to 11-8 and 6-4 to 15-8 and check that under the
“Race Type” heading that all the National Hunt are ticked but the flat
are not.
Ok now go down to the bottom of the page and tick “Include list of
selections” change max number to “2000” and tick “include breakdown of
results” then click “Go”.
You should get similar results to me, if you did then the last of the
results were from yesterday and we were showing a loss of -10965 at
£100 level stakes, which is what would have happened if you bet to win
on each selection, but remember we are creating a lay system here, I
hope that got your attention!
All selections should read 1280 bets and 532 wins giving a strike rate
of 41.6%.
If you scroll down to “Results broken down by Starting Price” you will
see quite clearly that selections that started with SP’s of 1-2 to 10-11
actually won 53.2% of the time.
If you have a quick look over the results you will see that it isn’t
always plain sailing and there were times you would have lost 4 or 5
times in a row and of course to get the same results you would have to
bet on every race that met this search criteria.
