Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
I think we need to discuss the Greyhound Selections(8)
because the "Rule of 3" is just not working at the moment. The last couple of
weeks have seen some pretty bad days which is certainly not in character with
the 1000 previous selections.
The stop at the first winner is doing a
lot better and it is certainly the one I prefer to run. One thought I have had
but not checked it yet is maybe if you are going to use the "rule of 3" is if
the first loser comes in the first 3 selection then stop. I know this will mean
some days you will lose but I wonder if we have enough clear days to override
the days when you have had to stop.
If you consider that some days you
will lose on the second or third selection your losses would not be that great,
so it will be easier to make up. I think it is worth considering. Myself I am
going to carry on stopping at the first win.
We seem to still be doing
well on the place, my only concern will be a long losing run but my stop loss
is set to £23.0 so it shouldn't be to bad. We have certainly had a good
winning streak so far.

I see plenty of you are

Ultratrader. Betfair have updated their API again so the bot
should be a lot more stable now although I have had one copy running for 5
solid days now without any interruption.
Actually what I find
interesting is all the ideas you have about different ways to bet with
Ultratrader from just betting on one particular had at a given price to much
more complex scenario's.
I have been betting on the Games market almost
since day 1 so I have had a lot of experience, here are some of my
findings.
1. Don't just pick one hand at the start and continually bet
on it. I have seen one hand lose over 25 times in a row and I have seen the
same hand then win 5 times. So laying or backing just doesn't seem to
work.
2. Odds ranges are very important and if you are going for a
system that will give you a bet every round then you are more than likely going
to lose.
3. Beware of hands like the worst after the turn, it's worth
looking at but you can bet that it will turn around and bite you now and then.
4. Play around with backing or laying the best priced hand on the turn,
but you will have to build up some rules and a narrow price range

8. Greyhound Selections- Lay
System started 07/11/2006.
After playing around with selections I
have decided that for the time being this is going to be a lay only test. I
think I have worked out a system that will give us quite good prices but I
suspect there will have to be a maximum lay price set. I am just not sure what
that will be but I am testing between 2.00 and 7.00. I will make every effort
to record betfair lay prices as well. The ones marked with an asterisks
(*) are from the original and tighter system, I am not using these
now.
You can see all the results since the 14th (when I introduced
the latest selection method)
here. I am now using what I call the "rule of 3", this means
we go for 3 wins and use a 3 race scratch back to get back any losses.

favourite and lay the second best priced horse before the off.

hoping that most of the time the lay should not change but if it does then it
is always the best priced horse (lay side) after the favourite.
Our stake
will be £10 split 4.00 on the back and 6.00 on the lay. Of course you
could do this how you want but we suggest you put slightly more on the lay to
cover any loses on the back.
